zandance classes

Learn how to dance, not just a dance. Ballet is a form of circuit training, time tested and proven over centuries.

Get A Good Start:

Begin Ballet:

ZANDANCE BASIC SERIES: 101, 102, 103
First Classes Build Habits That Last A Lifetime. Zandance Ballet Class for beginners is unique. Traditional ballet steps are broken into segments that create proper technique. The steps do the teaching. By the end of the first year, students have a grasp of what classical ballet is all about, as well as class structure, formations, ballet steps and combinations. Students gain strength, flexibility, mental focus, ability to observe, remember, repeat, to name a few. It all happens while listening to the beautiful flowing guitar music of the Wondering Bard.
Beginning ballet offers the basic skills needed to continue into Professional Preparation or Lifelong Health and Beauty tracks.
Length: 1 hour, 1 class per week for 1 year. (You must start on the published date.)
What to Wear: Pink Ballet Tights, Black Leotard, Pink Ballet Shoes (reasonably priced at studio)

Level 2 is a mix of zandance ballet to music of The Wondering Bard, Maria and Sergei style ballet to traditional ballet class music. All transfer students required to take Zandance Basic Series before joining intermediate classes. During Level 2, students make the decision of what they really want, to become professional ballet dancers or to continue ballet just for the love and health of it. Those who do not choose the professional career tract continue in the Lifelong Health and Beauty tract.

Rozanne of Zandance:

Rozanne fell in love with ballet age 3, began age 5 and continued taking lessons until 1998 (that equates to 45 years but who's counting?) She has taken from many instructors all over the USA, but considers Maria Dare to be her teacher, having attended The Ballet House from 1960 until Maria's death in 1997.

Rozanne taught ballet in Portland while attending Portland State University, graduating with a BS in Psychology. She then taught ballet in North Carolina while getting a Master's degree in Recreation Administration, Therapeutic Option from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and continued to teach while working at WBJ Alcoholic Rehabilitation Center and then at Pitt County Memorial Hospital (now the flagship teaching hospital for the University Health Systems of Eastern Carolina.) It was at the Region Rehabilitation Center of PCMH, working next to Nurses, Physical Therapists and other Allied Health Professionals that Rozanne began to appreciate and understand the healthy content of the traditional ballet barre and class. Rozanne returned to Oregon in 1985, opened a ballet studio in Seaside in 1987 that evolved into Quest Ballet Academy, offering ballet classes for ages 3 to 80, beg.thru pointe, for both a career track and a life long health & beauty track. A battle with Adult Hodgkin's disease sent Rozanne dancing thru chemo and radiation therapy during the year 2000, learning much about what the body can do during difficult times.

Rozanne's combines decades of taking ballet, performing with her experience, education and training to offer traditional ballet technique in a meaningful way. The roots of her style can be traced back thru the Ballet House, back thru the Lindendare School to the European Masters such as Karsavina and Trefilova. Her teaching, augmented with internet classes, in-studio A/V's, provides a dynamic learning base for her students.

Performance Opportunities:

This studio is not a competition or performance based school. However, there will be an in-studio recital in December. It will be loads of fun with shadow dancing and black lights. Neptune's Ballet Classics 2012 will be held at the end of the school year. Hopefully we will be doing the full underwater scene this time and have more Ballet Classics to share.
